Wellness Star

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!

Whether you find yourself in the school setting, in the home setting or a combination of both, we welcome the beginning of the school year with an eagerness to learn and grow with the experiences and knowledge that this year offers.

We are also entering this school year with knowing how things can change at any time. We’ve learned how to accept the fact that we may not be able to plan as much as we did last year or count on events occurring and we’ve learned how to go with plan B, C, or Z. We’ve grown with how we’ve adapted and experienced resilience and acceptance of change.

Our students, their teachers and the school staff are continuing to amaze us with their creativity, hard work and resilience. For that, we THANK YOU and we know we can get through this together and come out stronger than ever before.

This year, we will be featuring a Wellness Star newsletter every other month. September/October is our first edition for 2020-2021 and continuing with November/December, January/February, March/April and May/June. Past Wellness Stars can always be accessed through the PTO Website under Resources (News/Blog.) Happy reading!

This edition of the Wellness Star: The 3Rs of Promoting Resilience, Star Questions, Mood-Boosting Tips for families during these times, Star Shout Out, seasonal recipes, book picks, upcoming events, Green Thumb gardening news, and more! Enjoy!

May/June Wellness Star

6/8/2020 8:37 am

We made it through the end of the school year and into summer break, through ALL of the changes, challenges and times of adjusting to a new normal. For that, I commend you all for your patience, persistence, flexibility, devotion to your children and understanding. Give yourselves credit for a job well done!

For the teachers and staff that guided us along the way, we cannot thank you enough for your personalized commitment to your students. As difficult as that can be doing through a screen, the ability to show your students how devoted you were to them was noticed and appreciated. We truly hope we can personally see you soon to thank you for everything you have all done.

For all the students and staff that are moving on from Chanhassen Elementary, we wish you the best with what lies ahead. We will miss your guidance, creativity, kindness, and presence in our school. You have all helped shape the school and the students in your own way and know we will carry on what we have learned from all of you. Thank you!

This final Wellness Star will be brief as there is so much to process these days. Thank you for taking the time to read and for taking the time to care for yourself and those around you. Be well.

April Wellness Star

Greetings from the Wellness Committee! We truly hope this finds you as well as possible during this time of adjusting to all the changes that have been brought on this month.

We know this time has also brought on an increase of news, information, and screen time so we want you read this at a time that is good for you. A time that you are taking moments of self-care, a time when you are taking a break from daily work or school, a time when you are allowing yourself to read a little at a time. We want to provide some information and ideas that allow you to address the well-being of yourself, your family, our community, and doing what we can during this time.

Please keep in mind how teachers, administrative staff, healthcare professionals, custodian professionals, safety workers, store employees, city officials, and so many others in our community are doing their best to keep us safe, informed, and connected. Make sure to thank those who are doing their part during this time.

In this month’s edition we will be featuring information on how to Manage Quarantine (Move, Soothe, Connect), a link to March’s Wellness Star for ideas during this time, a sneak peek at the new Active Art, Star Spotlight with Ann Wyman and Julie Leonard, Star Shout Out, and Green Thumb News. Thanks for taking the time to read! Be well (as much as possible during this time.)

March Wellness Star

3/17/2020 11:35 am

This month’s edition of Wellness Star is brief compared to other months as we are all adjusting to this time we are in. We are overloaded with emails, notices, media coverage, social media posts, and day-to-day information so we didn’t want to add more to that mix. We do, however, want to make sure that you take time to address the well-being of yourself, your family, our community, and doing what we can during this time of uncertainty.

Please keep in mind how teachers, administrative staff, healthcare professionals, custodian professionals, safety workers, city officials, and so many others in our community are doing their best to keep us safe, informed, and connected. Make sure to thank those who are doing their part during this time.

Remember to be patient with each other. Be kind during this time and always. Give yourself credit for doing your best. Make the most of this time together and embrace it. Take care of yourself and your family. Be well (as best as you can.)
